I’m all about the challenges today! In an effort to try and capture some of that Christmas spirit that is often so elusive to me, I like to read some Christmas novels in the month of December. Last year was the first time I tried this, and it actually worked quite well. So when I discovered the Christmas Reading Challenge, I couldn’t wait to sign up!

Michelle of the True Book Addict is hosting the Christmas Reading Challenge, and here are the details:
- The Challenge will run from Thanksgiving Day (November 26, 2009) through New Year’s Eve (December 31, 2009).
- You may choose 1 – 3 books. It may seem like a small amount, but it’s a busy time of year and the challenge is only a little over a month.
- They must be Christmas novels, books about Christmas lore or a book of Christmas short stories. (Sorry, no children’s books, but YA novels are okay.)
I’ll list my Christmas books here as I read them.
- All I Have to Give by Melody Carson (Nov. 29) Review posted!
- A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens (Dec. 8 ) Review posted!
- Grace: A Novel by Richard Paul Evans (Dec. 19) Review posted!

Oh, I like this challenge! Maybe I can finally get around to reading Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Great way to get into the season! I’ll check back to see if you’ve added any more books.
Too funny Jamye! A Christmas Carol was actually one of the 2 books I was considering for that final spot. I’ve never actually read the original version before. (I don’t think the Disney/Mickey version really counts!)
Ok, I’ve decided to this one as well… but am not sure if I should sign up there or not. I mean, you’re already doing it so it seems weird to link to the same post, no?
Oh, I forgot my books…
Right Now I’ve got:
1. Grace: A Novel by Richard Paul Evans
2. Finding Noel by Richard Paul Evans
3. The Christmas Box by Richard Paul Evans
Is it cheating to read three books by the same author? I’m going to pick up The Ultimate Gift by Jim Stovall today as well. It came highly recommended by my librarian when she saw the Richard Paul Evans books in my pile. Jody already reviewed Finding Noel here on the blog so I’ll probably switch that one out for sure. Maybe I’ll pick up another holiday book as well.
Rae–they also turned “The Ultimate Gift” into a movie a few years ago. The movie was entertaining, but I never read the book.
)
Actually–the woman who adapted the book into the screenplay used to run the official “Silk Stalkings” fan club with me (yes, there actually was a fan club for that USA Network TV show
Yep, I knew that… or, at least, the same Librarian who told me to get it also told me the reason she was interested in it was because she saw the TV movie.
I’m SO behind on welcoming everyone to the challenge! I hope you are enjoying it so far! I have an additional post on the blog for reviews. The Mr Linky is malfunctioning so if you don’t see it, post your review link in the comments (this is optional).
